On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 Weber Metals and OTTO FUCHS KG unveiled our 60,ooo-TON forging press. An over $180 million investment, the 60,000-TON press is the world’s largest private investment in aerospace metal forging. As a result, Weber will double it’s employment to 800 jobs. Weber Metals’ own Al McCormack, Vice President of Sales and Supply Chain, was elected Chairman of the Forging Defense Manufacturing Consortium Executive Advisory Board. The FDMC brings together members of the forging supply chain to research and create solutions for the continuous improvement of forgings and their supreme qualities of strength and durability. The $170 million investment will result in the establishment of a 60,000 tons hydraulic press complex, producing forgings of aluminum, titanium and nickel alloys for the aerospace market, speci cally for commercial and military airframes, landing gears, helicopter and aeroturbine applications as well as super-large forgings required in other industries. Production is planned to start by late 2017, following required quali cations. The investment is expected to generate 150 new jobs in the supply chain, including management and R&D positions, in the Los Angeles area.
